On Thursday, July 3rd, 2003, Dr.John Sullivan, the Executive Director Treasurer of the Florida Baptist Convention in Jacksonville dedicated the CARTER AND MATTIE SUE ROBINSON MEMORIAL MISSION HOME.
The property had been donated to COMMUNITY BIBLE CHAPEL by the Robinsons' nephew, Mr, William Coy McMahan and the congregation decided the two houses should not be used as rental property.
At the time, one of our members had been diagnosed with terminal cancer of the throat and unable to work and with no income was ordered to move by his landlord. As he was being taken to the hospital, he
asked if he could store his property in one of the houses.
It was doubtful that James Tarbell would ever be released, but he was and our people immediately went to work to prepare the house for him to live in,
It was about that time our pastor felt the other house could be turned into a MISSION HOME and following the death of James, we decided to convert that one into a HOSPICE HOUSE for the terminally ill. Over thirty thousand dollars was spent completely removing all interior walls in the MISSION HOME and rebuilding it with everything new.
Today this 2 bedroom is fully furnished and available for foreign missionaries who are home on furlough with absolutely no cost to them. It is fully furnished and as Dr. Hicks says, a missionary and their family can walk in with their clothes and live their for a year very comfortably.
When not occupied by missionaries, it is available to all of the churches in the area to use for out-of-town ministers or families returning for funerals.
COMMUNITY BIBLE CHAPEL has no indebtedness and all work has been done as the finances were available.
If you or your church know of missionaries coming back to the United States who need a place to spend their furlough, please contact our pastor and arrangements can be made for them to live here. It is of course on a "first come, first serve basis".
We would like to be able to provide a car for the MISSION HOME were those staying would have transportation and if you have an automobile you would be interested in donating, please contact us at the address shown on the home page.
