Soon after the two houses on the corner of West Harris and North Miller in our town of Spur, Texas were given to COMMUNITY BIBLE CHAPEL, a member of our church who had been diagnosed with terminal throat cancer was evicted from his home as he was unable to work, had no insurance or funds. When he was being sent to the hospital in Lubbock, Texas he asked if he could store his belongings in one of the houses. In all honesty, none of us expected James would ever come home from the hospital; however, after a number of weeks to our surprise and relief he was.

Members of our congregation rushed in to prepare the living room, one of the bedrooms, kitchen and restroom for him to live in. A short time later the cancer claimed his life.

Our pastor had already decided it was not right for a church to have rental property and construction had started on the back house that we were going to use as a MISSION HOME for missionaries coming home on furlough to live in. As we witnessed James' final days, we realized he was certainly not the only person in that situation and thus, the plans for a HOSPICE HOUSE were born.

Reconstruction work is taking place, as can be seen in the photographs on this page. The restroom was completely rebuilt with handicapped fixtures and we will be able to provide housing for three terminally ill and one care giver. All expenses, including utilities are paid by the church on both of these houses.

Because we will not go into debt for materials and labor, the progress has been retarded and we have had to turn several people away.

If you believe in this ministry and would like to help, please either make your donation, designed for either the HOSPICE HOUSE or MISSION HOME by clicking on PAY PALL and using your credit card, or you may send your offering to the church at the address shown on the Home Page.

This site will be updated as we continue the reconstruction of the house.
